Heylo Transition FAQ
SOMA Families is migrating to a new platform: Heylo! Starting July 1, 2025 all SOMA Families events and member services will be on Heylo.
After July 1, our MeetUp page will no longer be used for events, and our website will no longer be used to collect member dues. Our website, Facebook, and Instagram pages will remain active.
All current SOMA Families members will receive an email from Heylo with more information about transitioning. Read on for FAQs about the transition.
heylo transition Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Why are we changing platforms?
Heylo is a group platform that will help us streamline our events, member communications, and member services and dues systems. Heylo also offers new features that will allow SOMA Families members to interact more easily with each other and with the leadership team (Board). Joining SOMA Families, paying dues, and RSVP'ing for events will now all happen in one place. And, members will have more control over your own payment options and profiles.
How do I join SOMA Families on Heylo?
Each member will receive an invitation email from Heylo in June. It will have a link with your basic member information pre-loaded. Just click to accept the invitation and join our group! You can see our public page in the meantime: https://heylo.group/soma-families
Do I have to download a new app? Heylo has a great app, but if you don’t want to download it, you can use Heylo from your computer or phone browser. SOMA Families has our own dedicated space on Heylo, so you will only get communications from our group.
What happens to my paid membership?
Your membership renewal date will be pre-loaded to Heylo. When your renewal date comes up, you will be prompted to complete your payment in the Heylo platform. Your auto-renew subscription on the SOMA Families website will be canceled, and you will be notified via email of cancelation. On Heylo, you will have more control over your own subscription options and payment information.
Do I have to move to Heylo? Yes, if you want to stay a member of SOMA Families, you will need to join Heylo. All event information, RSVP'ing, and our membership dues platform will be part of Heylo. SOMA Families will no longer use MeetUp.
What if I want to leave SOMA Families? If SOMA Families no longer feels like a good fit for your family, you are able to unsubscribe at any time. During the transition, the easiest way to leave is to simply not migrate over to Heylo. If you want to leave before then, you can remove yourself from the MeetUp group or unsubscribe from the SOMA Families website.
What if I have more questions or need help?
No problem! You can message a real person directly via Support Chat in Heylo, or email at support@heylo.co. If you feel more comfortable going to a SOMA Families board member, you can message our VP of Membership, Chloe Gurin-Sands at membership@somafamilies.org.
